Another Friday, another picture prompt. Today’s pic reminded me of just how precious our moment in time is, and we should enjoy it while it lasts. Enjoy!
“Isn’t it amazing, the view?” Luke said. His back was against the ground, his gaze facing the stars above. In the distance, crickets chirped and frogs croaked.
“Enjoy it while it lasts,” Megan said. She lay next to him, looking towards the sky.
“Hmm, what do you mean?” Luke said rolling over to look at her. She was nothing more than a black figure against the dark background of night.
“In a couple of years… well a few billion really, or maybe trillion…” She continued. “But a couple of years relativity speaking all the stars in the sky will fade away. Leaving nothing but an eternity of void.”
“You’ve been studying astronomy lately?” Luke asked.
“I guess you could say so. Watched a video on the timeline of the universe and whatnot. Really makes you think.”
Luke rolled back over and looked at the stars overhead. An eternity of void. That sounded horrible.
“Best that we enjoy it while it lasts,” Megan said.
“Yeah,” Luke nodded. “And what a view it is.”
